Have your say on the Smarter Travel Legacy
3rd November 2008
Following the success of Smarter Travel Sutton, the council wants to work with local people to ensure that the project has a lasting legacy.
Enabling Smarter Choices proposes a new approach to how we prioritise and deliver schemes. It will focus on making short, local trips, and key destinations within the borough more sustainable, as these have the most potential for change.
The council plans to change the way that it bids for money from TfL for transport improvements by focusing action on one area at a time. The first to be looked at will be Wallington, with planners drawing up a programme of works to make walking, cycling and public transport the preferred way to travel around the borough. The council's target is to improve all of the borough's town and district centres over the next 5-10 years.
Until the 17 November, we are asking for people's views on issues in their local area and how they want to be involved in the design process. Our aim is to make sustainable travel even more attractive and accessible.
