LONDON SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN ACCREDITATION SCHEME
The School Travel Team at Transport for London with local London boroughs are pleased to announce the launch of the London Sustainable Travel Accreditation Scheme.
The accreditation scheme is specifically aimed at schools which have an approved school travel plan (STP) in place and who continue to implement their plans, to take the travel plan to the next level and be rewarded for their efforts and commitment.
The accreditation scheme and related rewards and resources have been designed with the following aims in mind:
- To provide an incentive for schools to develop high quality travel plans
- To encourage a whole school approach to school travel – involving pupils, parents and staff
- To embrace the individuality of each school
- To provide a quality, recognised standard across London
- To recognise schools that continue to embrace sustainable travel and achieve a reduction in car use
- To celebrate examples of good practice – real stories from real schools
If your school has already demonstrated a commitment to school travel planning and made a real effort to encourage a reduction in car use we want to encourage you to enter this scheme, become accredited and most importantly, be rewarded and recognised for the work you have done.
The three levels; sustainable, higher standards and outstanding, are clearly explained within the pack (available from your School Travel Advisor) which also provides detail on the links to Every Child Matters and the Self Evaluation Form.
