LONDON SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN ACCREDITATION

School Travel Plan Accreditation was launched by Transport for London in 2007, to reward and recognise schools efforts with, and commitment to, their School Travel Plans.

There are three levels of accreditation available, equating to ‘bronze’, ‘silver’ and ‘gold’ whcih are Sustainable, Higher Standards and Outstanding.

For the academic year 2009-10 LB Sutton is delighted to announce that thirty eight schools have been accredited in total, with three at Outstanding,  thirteen at Higher Standards and twenty two at Sustainable (see schools below). For the higher two levels schools must demonstrate that they have been successful in reducing car use for their pupils’ journeys to school so it is a real achievement to be awarded these levels. Sustainable level celebrates that schools have a high quality, ‘live’ School Travel Plan in action at school.

If you are interested in your school applying for accreditation, or increasing its current level have a look at http://www.staccreditation.org.uk/ and/or contact the School Travel Adviser at London Borough of Sutton.
